when therapy is your next right step

a full-service psychology practice in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

I’m glad you’re here. Making the decision to seek individual psychotherapy can be difficult. We’ve made a lot of progress in reducing the stigma around mental health, yet still so many live in fear of judgment—and so choose pain over the relief that comes with committing to evidence-based care.

You are courageous, insightful and strong. A big shout-out to you for valuing your emotional health and for doing the work to become your best self.

 Here’s what to expect

Pattern-01.jpg

First, you'll come in to my office for an intake session.

This is an opportunity for you to share your current concerns, the symptoms that just won’t quit, your academic and work history, psychology and medical history and personal strengths and weaknesses. We’ll work through several easy-to-complete rating scales so that I can arrive at a diagnostic impression.

We'll create a plan with three measurable goals.

During our sessions, I'll help you reach your goals using evidence-based tools. Treatment looks different for everyone. For example, in treating OCD, exposure with response prevention works best, while for depression, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is proven to be most effective.

Ready to schedule?

Call 570-344-4111 and leave a message. I'll call you back and we'll set up your intake appointment. It's as easy as that. Evidence-based treatment works when you work it. You can expect some relief in several weeks. I can't wait for that. Let's do this!

About Dr. Lauren Hazzouri, the therapist behind Hazzouri Psychology in Scranton, Pennsylvania

About Dr. Lauren

I am a Scranton native. I grew up in the Hill Section, went to elementary and middle school in Green Ridge and graduated from Scranton Prep. I completed my undergraduate work at Penn State, where I was an Evan Pugh Scholar and graduated Phi Beta Kappa. I then returned home, where I received my Masters and Doctoral Degrees in Psychology from Marywood University.

In addition to my work at HAZZOURI PSYCHOLOGY, I am founder of NOT THERAPY—an educational emotional wellness program I created to address the unique mental health concerns of girls and women. NOT THERAPY draws from the most effective elements of western psychology and eastern philosophy to deliver proven solutions for navigating life.

I have been named one of the “Top 5 Women in the World Inspiring Girls” by German Glamour and my work has appeared in publications including Teen Vogue, Forbes and British Vogue. I’m an international public speaker, known for making a memorable appearance; as in my private practice, I often incorporate the latest evidence-based information with personal anecdotes, music and dance. I’ve shared my message at events hosted by Girlboss, Beautycon, Gurls Talk, Her Campus, Girl Up and Heymama, among others.

I am a member of both the American Psychological Association and The Pennsylvania Psychological Association and have received numerous awards and honors for my work, including The Psychology in the Media Award by The Pennsylvania Psychological Association.
